HSI Supports Largest Outpatient Heart Failure Performance Improvement Study & SCA Prevention Initiative

HSI has supported the ImproveHF heart registry--the largest outpatient heart failure registry to date. The study is aimed at improving adherence with American College of Cardiology guidelines for heart failure among nearly 200 US cardiology practices. Over 50,000 patients are involved in the study. Dr. Blake Andersen, HSI CEO facilitated a number of national performance improvement sessions with interdisciplinary cardiology practice teams of physicians, nurses and advanced practice nurses, and quality leaders in Chicago, New York, Dallas, San Francisco, and Los Angeles. The study was funded by Medtronic and co-chaired by Dr. Gregg Fonarow, MD, FACC, FACP of the UCLA Medical School and Dr. Clyde Yancy, MD, FACC, FAHA, FACP, of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, and President Elect of the American Heart Association.

HealthSciences is currently supporting the Medtronic-funded follow-up program: SCA Prevention: Putting Guidelines into Practice. This two-day program combines expert instruction on the application of ACC/AHA guidelines  to the care of patients with HF, a comprehensive review of evidence-based HF care protocols, and case studies highlighting innovative hospital and clinic HF care performance improvement efforts. As a SCA Prevention partner, HealthSciences facilitates a half-day work session to help interdisciplinary clinic and hospital teams design and implement individualized performance improvement implementation plans for their organizations. The program is chaired by Dr. Gregg Fonarow of UCLA Medical School.
